Tooth Coloured (White) Filling Treatment:

For many decades silver (mercury) fillings have been used. Teeth that have been restored with silver fillings often give the appearance of a darkened or gray tooth. Our office provides patients with an alternative to these silver fillings.

Composite (tooth coloured) fillings are used now to restore your teeth. Composite fillings are much more appealing and more esthetic than silver fillings. This is because the composite resin matches your tooth making them less detectable leaving you with a smile that looks filling free.

The procedure for placing composite fillings is very similar to that of the silver filling. The decay is first removed from the tooth, and the tooth is prepared for the composite material. Once the composite material is placed, a blue (curing) light is used to make the filling hard. The bite is checked and then the tooth is polished. These tooth coloured fillings blend in so well with the surrounding teeth and give a brighter smile.
