Dentures

What is a denture?

A denture is ideal for the replacement of a single tooth, multiple teeth, or if you are missing all of your teeth. Replacing your missing teeth will help by holding up the facial muscles, help with speech, chewing, swallowing, and smiling. Dentures should be removed at night time and cleaned with a toothbrush and denture cleaner. Dentures can be soaked in a denture cleaning solution overnight.

Full and partial denturesPartial dentures

Partial dentures are custom designed to fit the selected area in your mouth that is missing one, or several teeth. It is used to provide a replacement for the missing teeth, while you are still able to maintain the remaining natural teeth in your mouth. Partial denture wearers should make sure they are brushing and flossing regularly, paying special attention to the teeth that the clasps are attached to.

Full dentures

When all of your teeth are missing or require extraction, a set of full dentures are the ideal way of providing improved speech, cosmetic appearance, health of facial tissue, and the ability to properly chew and digest your foods. It is very common that with time and care, patients find that they will feel a high degree of confidence as well as comfort with today’s advanced methods and technology in denture treatment.

Caring for dentures

If you have had several teeth out right before your denture was made, after the initial placement of your denture, you will need to return back three months later for a denture relign. Partial denture wearers should return back for their ongoing dental care to ensure that you maintain the remaining teeth for a lifetime. Full denture wearers should return so that we can examine the gum tissues and ensure that they remain healthy, on a yearly basis.
